However, I have had it drilled into me from birth. Every Christmas and birthday I had to write thank-you cards, pre-meal prayers always started with "thank you Jesus for the food", manners were not an option in my home and I can still hear my granfather praying: "Dear Heavenly Father, we come to Thee to thank Thee that Thou hast been with us" I have had so many lessons in giving thanks as I was growing up and I believe that it has worked somewhat. But even with all of these lessons and examples I'm still not very grateful for all that I have, not like I should be. I could list it all but I won't. Too bad we have to make a special day for giving thanks when it should be a way of life. But I like the pie, so I won't complain :) Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Distractions

Remember Animaniacs? One of my favorite cartoons was this cute little girl, Mindy. She would be safe at home and then see something pretty and wander off into dangerous situations following some stupid balloon or butterfly or something. Buttons, her brave and kind-hearted dog would follow after to try and keep her safe. Unfortunately I can see myself in that. I'll be all safe and secure in God's will and then something from the world distracts me. So often like a foolish child I run after it, oblivious to the danger I'm getting myself into. And God, faithful, loyal, loving, always brings me back into His will, where I should have stayed all along. Maybe not a perfect analogy, but doesn't it feel like that sometimes? Lately I have been so distracted but God is good and gets my attention somehow. Good thing He's my Shepherd.

and again

Whew, I've had a pretty crazy time the past few weeks. My dad underwent a minor medical proceedure and the whole family is going through some major changes as a result. Tuesday the Student Nurse Association (I get to be el presidente) put on a career fair, the culmination of months of hard work and planning. I just turned in my last major paper, making a total of two big papers this week alone. I still have a few little papers, research for a debate, and of course reading and studying to do, but I think the main stressors of this semester are behind me; thank God for pulling me through. Coming up soon: Thanksgiving and then the Imogen Heap concert! My mood is decidedly happy.

Back in Black (or blue)

It's been a while since I've done this; it feels kind of strange to rejoin the blogging world, but I think I'll enjoy it.
